As you can imagine, with an expedition of this magnitude there are a number of costs that need to be met before they can even reach the start line. Many of these costs are related to the organisation of the expedition, but most are related to the most important piece of equipment required for the journey; THE BOAT!
The boat is made of marine plywood and comes as part of a kit that is supplied by Woodvale Challenge, the race organisers. It was designed by Phil Morrison and Spud Rowsell and is considered to be the best ocean rowing vessel available in terms of both safety and performance in an ocean environment. This boat is then fully kitted out with everything needed to allow a safe, fast ocean row to go ahead.
